Gate, one of the world’s leading digital asset exchanges, announced that its cryptocurrency payment service Gate Pay has officially launched a new national QR code payment feature.
The rollout begins in Vietnam and Brazil, where users will be able to make seamless crypto payments at over 17 million merchants that support both countries’ respective native QR systems. This milestone marks an important step in Gate Pay’s global expansion and localization strategy.
Supports VietQR and Pix to bridge national-level networks and cryptocurrency payments
In Vietnam, Gate Pay has partnered with authorized payment provider AEON and integrated with the country’s VietQR network, which currently covers more than 2 million merchants nationwide. Users can now use Gate Pay to scan VietQR codes at participating stores and pay directly in stablecoins such as USDT and USDC without converting to local fiat currencies or going through additional intermediaries.
Meanwhile, in Brazil, Gate Pay has been integrated with Pix, an instant payments network launched by the Brazilian Central Bank in 2020. Since then, Pix has become one of the most popular payment systems in Brazil, used by 170 million individuals and more than 15 million merchants nationwide.
With Gate Pay’s Pix integration, users in Brazil can now make cryptocurrency payments through Gate Pay with a single scan in familiar scenarios, from cafe and restaurant payments to school tuition and household bills.
Instant payments with a single scan: Make cryptocurrency payments a part of your daily life
The national QR code feature allows Gate Pay to automatically recognize a user’s country during transactions and intelligently match the most suitable payment rail and payment method. Users do not need to manually switch networks or currencies throughout the process.
The system automatically handles real-time exchange rates, payment validation, and on-chain payments, providing an instant, low-fee payment experience with a single scan.
Leveraging Gate’s industry-leading risk management and blockchain infrastructure, Gate Pay ensures transparent and secure transactions through end-to-end encryption and real-time monitoring.
Whether users pay on-chain or scan in-store, Gate Pay provides a smooth and reliable payment experience built on the same robust security foundation as Gate’s transaction ecosystem.
Promoting the “All in Web3” strategy to promote the global adoption of cryptocurrency payments
The introduction of the National QR Code feature represents a pivotal move in Gate’s “All in Web3” strategy and underscores Gate’s mission to bring blockchain technology into the real-world financial system.
By connecting cryptocurrency payments with national payment infrastructures, Gate seeks to turn the promise of Web3 into reality, making digital assets usable in everyday life and building a bridge between traditional finance and decentralized ecosystems.
Gate said Gate Pay’s future plans include expanding national QR code compatibility to more emerging markets and major economies, as well as adding support for additional stablecoins and blockchain networks.
Through these efforts, Gate aims to accelerate the global adoption of cryptocurrency payments and contribute to the creation of a unified Web3 payments network that seamlessly connects users, merchants, and digital assets around the world.
