As the Roll-Up story dominates Ethereum, the Bitcoin Layer 2 ecosystem is undergoing critical structural developments.
In September 2025, Bitcoinzk announced that native governance token Zyra would be officially listed on GATE. This is not just a listing event, but the first constitutional invitation to the market under the vision of the “Bitcoin Constitutional System.”
At the moment, Bitcoinzk is looking to extend the definition of Bitcoin Layer2 from a scaling solution to a governance-enabled framework that integrates Bitcoin’s Nativity, ZK Verification, and institutional governance tools.
ZK Rollup x Sovereign Design: ZK as the only viable path for Bitcoin Layer 2
Bitcoinzk CMO As Brian Lau pointed out, Bitcoin’s scripting system cannot natively support smart contract-based rollup verification. This means that all L2 scaling designs inevitably introduce trust assumptions.
Bitcoinzk’s core design proposes “100% ZK proof generation x 100% public verification.”
All user actions and L1-L2 cross-chain activities are verified by ZK-SNARKS to ensure their correctness
The verification process is fully open and can be audited by a third party
With basic support from Zkbridge and the threshold network, Bitcoinzk brings BTC assets into an EVM environment, allowing for the integration of BTC gas and EVM smart contracts, laying the foundation for programmable Bitcoin in the issuance of Defi and Assets.
Zyra: “Digital Constitution” not gas tokens
Unlike many “utility tokens”, Zyra is not designed for payments. It exists for governance.
According to the official governance model:
Zyra grants holders the rights to proposals, votes, Treasury assignments and Select Sequencers
Governance is fully chained and vote results are automatically triggered by smart contracts
The total supply is 1 billion tokens, 50% is distributed via device mining, and 80% of the cross-chain fees and gas fees are allocated to buybacks and burns
Therefore, Zyra mainly serves as a governance qualification within Bitcoin Layer 2.
Gate list: Tokens as an institution, Market as a consensus
Zyra’s list on the gate shows the first direct connection between the Bitcoinzk ecosystem and the mainstream market. Prior to this, Zyra’s story lived primarily in the developer community, technical white papers, and the offline scene in the Asian market.
This conflict between the “sovereign governance token” and the speculative market can serve as a stress test and become an inflection point in which the narrative gains wider acceptance.
CMO Brian Lau emphasized that the list is intended as a starting point for global community governance. Following this, the ecosystem will expand to more chain governance experiments, Defi construction, and RWA bridging mechanisms centered around Zyra.
Beyond Layer 2: Governance Testbed
Bitcoinzk’s global strategy has long evolved beyond technological development into scenario-driven collaboration.
Strategic partnerships with infrastructure leaders such as crust networks, protocol labs, and ARO networks
Community buildings, technical evangelism and offline hackathons launched in cities such as Hong Kong, Seoul, Dubai
Zyra’s gate list is simply the beginning of the constitutional system. Bitcoinzk’s medium to long-term roadmap includes:
Introducing ZK verification in RWA scenarios – Strengthen assets, bridge integrity, and privacy
Starts an incentive model for on-chain governance, allowing for “code-driven execution of consensus results.”
Expanding the external verification possibilities of Zkbridge, becoming a foundation bridge layer from BTC to global defi
Real-world experiments in next-generation Bitcoin governance
If Ethereum Layer2 is built for performance, Bitcoinzk Layer2 is to restructure the complete institutional framework.
Verification logic (ZK)
Execution route (EVM)
Governance model (Zyra)
Within this architecture, Zyra is more than just a listed token. This is governance credentials that support votes, the official price institutional atomic unit.
Bitcoinzk is trying to answer a single question.
Whether a governance system can be implemented is whether Bitcoin Layer 2 can become more programmable, governable, and verifiable?
The Gatelist simply marks the moment when this question begins to be asked by the global market.
