The Ethereum Foundation today announced that Devcon 8, Ethereum’s global community and developer conference, will be held in Mumbai, India in Q4 2026.
Devcon is the global Ethereum community’s annual gathering of developers, researchers, community contributors, and builders. Unlike a typical crypto conference, many of Devcon’s programs and spaces are created and led by the community, reflecting Ethereum’s bottom-up culture and focus on collaboration.

India was chosen as the next venue based on the size and rapid growth of its developer ecosystem, increasing local adoption, and strong grassroots Ethereum community. India currently has over 17 million developers on GitHub, making it the largest source of new cryptocurrency developers from 2023 onwards, many of which are built on top of Ethereum and its scaling ecosystem. The country has also led the world in cryptocurrency adoption for the second year in a row, with significant growth in activity around Ethereum across universities, meetups, hackathons, and local organizations.
“India has one of the largest concentrations of technology talent in the world, and the Ethereum community has grown rapidly in recent years,” said Nathan Sexer, Devcon Team Lead. “Holding Devcon 8 in Mumbai will further strengthen this momentum and lower the barrier for new builders in the region to connect with contributors from around the world.”
Mumbai is a major global city with a deep technology base, providing strong access to participants across India and Asia, supporting Devcon’s efforts to reach emerging and fast-growing communities.
Details on applying for speakers, community involvement, and ticket sales will be shared on devcon.org in the coming months.
