PI Network marked the celebration of this year’s PI2Day on June 28th, recording a wave of new announcements aimed at expanding its ecosystem and deepening user engagement.
This year’s announcement focuses on two strategic updates. A staking utility designed to decentralize app discovery within the ecosystem, without code AI app creation platform and decentralize app discovery.
App Studio with AI opens doors for non-coders
The PI2Day event was the launch of PI App Studio. A no-code development tool equipped with artificial intelligence.
PI App Studio allows users to build and deploy applications using natural language instructions rather than complex programming. This approach allows individuals to turn their ideas into functional apps within the PI ecosystem without having to code their expertise.
“So creating apps via Pi App Studio means that you can own and operate businesses and products that are fully built with the businesses and ideas supported by the PI blockchain ecosystem,” the team explained.
At launch, the App Studio includes two important features: First, users can build topic-specific AI chatbots that reflect their knowledge and provide customized responses to the end users.
Secondly, with an open-ended app builder currently in beta mode, users can explain what they want to do to their app. The system builds logic behind the scenes.
According to the PI Network, the tool allows users to own and run digital businesses shaped by insights, using AI as the engine and blockchain as foundation. Meanwhile, beta access to the wider app builders is expected to be gradually rolled out.
Pi Staking Utility rebuilds app visibility on the mainnet
In addition to the AI rollout, PI Network launched Ecosystem Directory Staking on PI2DAY. This new feature allows users to wager PI tokens to increase visibility into their precious apps, starting today.
This approach separates from traditional ad-based promotion and intensive ranking algorithms.
The staking model is simpler as the more PIs are staked towards the app, the more they appear in the PI browser directory. With this change, users will have a direct impact on which apps gain traction and reward the quality and community impact on marketing spending.
“In addition to the utility of PI in staking, this also seeks to provide greater exposure to apps that provide high quality, meaningful community engagement,” the team explained.
The PI team emphasized that this staking system aligns exposure with real engagement and innovation. It also strengthens the network’s mission to diversify digital participation and reduce reliance on legacy Web2 models.
This staking utility moves away from the popular centralized ranking model in Web2 and creates a feedback loop where the community distributes attention, value and exposure.
In addition to these major updates, PI Network has also announced several technical upgrades. These include the release of new node versions and improvements to the mainnet migration with over 500,000 new users.
Other updates include an expansion auction of the .PI domain through September 30th and a third-party Fiat On-RAMP integration that streamlines participation in the mainnet ecosystem.
