Wonil Suh, executive vice president of Wemade, represents the evolution of Korean blockchain games. His company began his blockchain journey with the founding of Wemix seven years ago, becoming one of the most experienced web3 companies in Korea. With over 1,000 employees dedicated to Wemix-related businesses worldwide, Wemade operates on an unprecedented organizational scale of blockchain games.
After the main event of Korea Blockchain Week, particularly a session introducing US participants, including Donald Trump Jr., SUH appeared to be increasingly confident about the adoption of Stablecoin. His belief comes from Wemade’s real-life experience managing millions of gaming transactions and developing a comprehensive blockchain infrastructure. The executive expects Koreans to have won Stablecoins that promote everything from K-Content consumption to tourism payments around the world.
Why did Wemade launch the Stablecoin project “Stable One” as a gaming company?
“Wemade launched its blockchain business in 2018 seven years ago and founded us among the most experienced companies in Korea in this domain with our scale and focused commitment. We haven’t recently started Stubcoin to maintain this strategic direction, as they are hot or trendy. As a gaming company, we realized that we offer gaming technology, portfolio.
We’ve accumulated extensive knowledge by managing hundreds of millions of transactions from over 30 games and supporting over 1 million monthly simultaneous users. We consistently believe that this expertise should not remain unique and should benefit the wider industry. Stablecoins represent a vital opportunity in this respect. We were more than just studying technology. I developed a practical application using it. From this perspective, we have great value in contributing to ecosystems. ”
Wemade has established itself as a platform provider for Stablecoins, rather than as a direct publisher. Can you explain the partnership model and how to build this consortium approach?
“We believe that participation in the consortium will be more advantageous, rather than establishing our own stove coin. As a technology partner, we aim to broadly utilize our existing technical capabilities. We can work with various Korean companies and essentially as a technology partner to create synergy with bank experts through bank experts to maintain comprehensive specialist frameworks and facilities of the bank.
We cultivate global partnerships. Chinalysis took part in a recent event demonstrating our commitment to expanding these international alliances. Our strategies include launching a testnet, inviting diverse partners to participate, moving on to open source, and targeting operational deployments with multiple strategic partners early next year. ”
Sponsored when it announced the stable, Wemade said he wanted overseas users to adopt KRW Stablecoin. What specific use cases do you imagine, from cultural content consumption to tourism payments?
“Korea is currently at a cultural peak that is currently exposed globally through travel around the world, K-culture fandom and Korean content consumption. These digital natives can serve as our foundation instead of using foreign parlours for Korean cultural content.
Labels of artists with global fandoms and IP may encourage direct KRW transactions and remittances when selling tickets and products online rather than pricing in dollars or euros. Foreign tourists visiting Korea are currently exchanging currency at airports and local gold changers, but using payment apps familiar to Korean transactions can simply be converted to digital KRW stubcoins upon arrival, while eliminating the inconvenience of traditional currency exchanges. ”
What is Wemade’s comprehensive global strategy? How does the Wemix Play platform fit into becoming a major game destination around the world?
“After launching miR4 four years ago, we realized that all content, especially games with user-time investment and internal economy, inevitably require blockchain integration. With this technology universally adopted, we decided that instead of developing it independently, all companies need to build a great system with small resources that can utilize limited resources.
Essentially, game developers don’t need to create a game launcher or payment system for each game they develop, so they just focus on creating content and put it on the platform. Wemix Play assumes that all gaming companies from Africa, India and Eastern Europe will naturally list games on the platform along with Apple, Google and Steam. Our long-term vision, which now features dozens of games, includes thousands and hundreds of thousands of titles powered by Wemix blockchain infrastructure and utility token ecosystems. ”
How is AI transforming the gaming industry and how is Wemade integrating AI and blockchain technology? Please tell us about Nvidia’s collaborations.
“AI and games naturally complement each other, just like cryptography and games. Currently, they leverage AI in 20-30 games, which are currently being developed through various studios. They will enhance their art creation and algorithm development. Rather than superficially adding development and blockchain technology, they need to enable innovative gameplay.
With a sponsor looking five to ten years away, how do you expect blockchain technology to reshape both games and finance? What role does Wemed want to play in that transformation?
“I imagine a future where AI will increase productivity, increase leisure time and create potentially universal basic income scenarios. People have two empirical paths.
The digital world is perfectly useful for this latter demographic. The game has expanded beyond traditional gameplay. Platforms like Roblox already represent metaverse experiences where commerce runs primarily through cryptography. AI agents drive these transactions and enable Stablecoins to make payments seamlessly. As our children mature, this integrated AI-CRYPTO-GAMING ecosystem seems completely natural. Wemede is at the heart of this major paradigm transformation. ”
Given the several regulatory challenges Wemade faces in Korea, what message would you send to international investors who may be concerned about the Korean crypto landscape?
“As one of Korea’s biggest gaming companies with global reach, our combat strength is formidable. We have developed many fights, experienced set-offs, and extensive strategies. These challenges will not weaken us, but strengthen our over 1,000 employees. It’s very high possibility that institutional investors and crypto holders should recognize and support.”
